What is a Hidden Passage/Forgotten Space Concept Door? [back to top]
Hidden Passage Doors and Forgotten Space Concept Doors will hide or conceal an opening by appearing to be a built in cabinet. Both add storage where a standard door offers none and give you the same functionality as a standard door. Concept Doors are also “Theme” Doors that relate to their surrounds or are built for a specific use in their design (ex: ticket booth, curio cabinet, gun safe and pool table accessory doors).
What is considered an Industry Standard Door? [back to top]
These doors are built to standard framing or rough opening specifications which are 2” over the door size width and 2” to 2 ½” over the door size height. Standard door sizes are called out in feet then inches. A 30” x 80” door is called a 2’ 6” x 6’ 8” door with a rough opening of 32” x 82”. Builder Door Series are built and sold to these dimensions only.
Are your doors ready to install? [back to top]
Yes. All doors are Pre-hung on matching frames with our concealed hinge system. They do not ship with wall casing or trim.
Will you build doors to non-standard opening sizes? [back to top]
Yes. All doors except the Builder Door Series are available in custom size widths and heights.
What species (types) of wood do you build doors out of? [back to top]
We will build doors out of most domestic and import woods except Cedar, which is much too soft.
What is the tallest door you will build? [back to top]
We do not recommend or guarantee doors that are over 8’ 0” tall (96”).
Will you build double doors to fit wide openings? [back to top]
Yes.
Do you stock any doors? [back to top]
No. We do keep our Builder Door Series on a ‘Fast-Track’ production line to reduce the lead-time on those doors.
What if I have an idea for a door design that I do not see on your website? [back to top]
No problem! We are very proud of our ability to take your idea’s and design a door for you.
Do you offer your doors Painted or Stained? [back to top]
No. We are only craftsmen at designing and building prehung doors.
Do you sell your door hardware, plans or kits? [back to top]
No. Due to patents pending, privacy reason and because we manufacture to the highest standards, we do not want a door not built by CBR representing the quality service and craftsmanship that we are known for.
Your doors are beautiful but I don’t think I have a place for one? [back to top]
If you currently have a door or door opening…you have a place for one. Our doors replace existing doors as well as being installed in new construction. They not only hide or concealed an opening but on the practical side…they add storage where before there was none.
Can my door swing into the room rather than out of the room? [back to top]
Yes. Both Inswing and Outswings are available as well as hinging the doors on either side. See our Handing Chart on the Option and Specification Page.
I am concerned about objects moving and falling off the shelves? [back to top]
Because of our heavy duty hinging system our doors glide smoothly and easily even when heavily loaded. Please keep in mind that this is a moving piece of furniture and should not be slammed (neither should a regular door). Our experience has been that items do not move and there is no need to tape or secure them to the shelf. I would however reframe from placing top heavy objects
on the shelves.
Do you make a Fire Rated Door? [back to top]
No. Our doors are for interior use only and are not to be used as exterior doors or doors between the house and the garage.
Does your door lock? [back to top]
Our standard latching is a push/release latch that has no locking function. We do offer optional latching and locking devices including electronic controls.
Will you build bookcases to match you doors? [back to top]
No. We only manufacture prehung doors.
Can you match my existing cabinets and trim? [back to top]
If your door is ordered with cabinet doors on the face, we can generally match your existing cabinet doors. Matching your wood type is no problem but we do not sell wall trim w/our doors.
How do I get prices? [back to top]
Because we are a custom door manufacture with many options (the most common option is to allow you to design your own door) we do not publish a price list. Call or email us with your specification and we will be glad to quote your project. Don’t forget to include your ZIP CODE so that we can include a freight estimate.
Can I hang the door myself or do I need a carpenter? [back to top]
Yes, the door is ready to install when you receive it but if you do not have prior experience installing prehung doors we strongly recommend that you hire a professional. All doors must maintain clearances to operate properly but our doors are built with much tighter clearances than your standard interior and exterior doors.
How long will it take to get my door? [back to top]
Production lead-times fluctuate depending on number of orders in process but generally the more simple designs (open bookcase doors) take approximately 4 to 5 weeks. The Builder Door Series production time is generally 2-3 weeks and the more complicated designs production times are quoted at the time of ordering. Freight transit time is in addition to production time.
Can I become a Dealer? [back to top]
Dealer inquires are always welcomed and requirements can be discussed over the telephone. |
